This half day course looks at the key factors which contribute to the spreading and controlling of infections in the work place. The course is particularly appropriate for care/nursing staff. Participants will cover the following:
What is an infection?
Who is at risk?
The different types of infection
Infection sources, hosts and modes of transmission
Infection breeding grounds
Exposure to infections
Personal hygiene and hand washing
Work place hygiene
Disposal of infected materials
Personal pretective equipment
The course is delivered via interactive discussion, powerpoint and groupwork, practical activities and DVD/Video. All courses are delivered by a qualified nurse or care manager.
